Why the fuck should kids be proposing any sort of bill? I hate when people use kids in anything political. It's such bullshit. Also I don't see anything in there about the tea party. Why is it that if anybody farts in this country somebody will be there to blame it on the tea party.
Teaching is often best carried out in a hands-on manner, which is why chemistry classes have bunsen burners, English classes have pens and paper, and why kids should certainly play around with things like suggesting bills. Even the bill's failure will teach the kids something about the process.
I don't think this is about "using kids" to get something done, at all. I mean, it's not like which bird is the state bird will impart a business advantage to the rich folk who own the politicians, and you and I both know that that is the only legislation that matters.
No, no one was using the kids to push the agenda of red-tailed hawks on the unsuspecting polity. Folks were trying to teach the kids about the legislative process, and some dipshit unwittingly gave them a much more realistic lesson that had been envisioned: without a moneyed interest at stake, your law will go nowhere fast.
Good. Children should learn that.
