For your worries earlier about how the kids were being misused, you're suddenly a little complacent. Kids understand a hell of a lot more than non-parents think.

The politician was using the kids to grandstand his views, and now he's catching pushback. Perhaps he should have thought his strategy out a little better, don't you agree? And -- it's funny how some "small-government" assholes want to stick the government inside each and every woman's womb, isn't it? Even funnier is how they think that a gathering of grade-school children is the appropriate venue to opine on such a subject.

Me, I think that politician is a twat. It's a shame he can never be pregnant, never know the feeling of what it means to make such a ponderous decision, and yet he still feels fine with running his mouth -- in front of children, no less.

You want me to make a guess. That politician probably brings up abortion every chance he gets. Some people just have an issue that they hammer on regardless of circumstance. Also it's not a gathering of grade school students, it's a political format where a bunch of grade school students came to. He didn't come into their classroom and yell about abortion, they came to where he normally talks about that stuff. This is what happens in a political arena. If you bring a bunch of kids to a porn studio, don't be shocked if they are marking porn there.

Why the fuck should kids be proposing any sort of bill? I hate when people use kids in anything political. It's such bullshit. Also I don't see anything in there about the tea party. Why is it that if anybody farts in this country somebody will be there to blame it on the tea party.

They were wanting to add a state raptor (bird of prey) rather than change the state bird. It was a harmless bill created by kids to help them see how government works.... or doesn't work, in this case. These people in the state legislature should have just passed the bill rather than acting like bunch of crotchety old men telling a bunch of kids to get off their lawn. Thinking Also, if you don't like kids being used for anything political then you should have a problem with this guy using a bill created by kids to push his political view regarding abortion.

There is a big difference, he didn't choose to have the kids come there. He's just talking about what he wants to talk about in his volunteer job. Some teacher brought them there to teach them about politics and then expects them to not learn the reality of politics?

I mean, he did take the opportunity to twist the thing into a tortured comparison to Planned Parenthood for no real reason other than to make a dig at something he didn't like.

I really don't give a shit that these people are essentially volunteers. They're public servants and representatives of the State's government. They should get called out for acting like dicks.

Groen probably does that all day long. Some people have their issues. He didn't drag a bunch of kids into his volunteer job and then yell at them about that. Some twat of a teacher did that apparently not knowing that people like him exist and then people proceeded to make way too big of a deal about it. Nothing he said was shocking even. Kids either didn't understand his comments or they understood in which case they are mature enough to handle them. The only people who think that something awful happened are partisans who are trying to spin this into a partisan point which it isn't. We say more shocking things on this site on a daily basis and you know what, kids probably read some of it from time to time. Does that make us a bunch of twats? No. Because children are not that fragile.
