You know, the Jews could easily say the same thing about the Christian god. If they don't, I would imagine it's only out of politeness and political necessity.
The god of the OT and the god of the NT are just as "clearly" two different animals. The messiah that the Jews are expecting and the messiah that the Christians worship are also two different animals. This is another thread I should start. The new religion (Christianity, Mormonism, Islam) always likes to claim the old religion's god, a claim that is never convincing to the followers of the old religion.
