First of all I don't give any more of a shit about the various sects of islam than I do the various sects of xtianity. That's pretty fucking stupid and certainly not worth blowing each other up about.
As far as the rest of it goes, I suggest you get your story straight before you try to present it. All ancient superstitions are pointless in the modern world but if you can't agree among yourselves why would you expect anyone else to accept your word for it?
I find Robert Spencer's thesis far more compelling. Mohammed was a later heroic figure created by the power structure to unify disparate tribes and the peoples they conquered. There is no fucking god involved. Just human ambition and greed.
