The ones already posted are beautiful.
Personally, I have a preference for the classics with a twist, so when I designed my "dream" engagement ring, it was this one:
Designed and built by Steven Krechmer, it is a patented reverse spring that holds the stone in place, allowing the stone to "float" without prongs in the setting. The gold alloy is also patented for strength. The diamond had to be tested to ensure it was of sufficient quality to withstand the pressure. I still have it and I still wear it. The only downside? Can't be resized, so don't gain weight! (Disclaimer: This is not my ring, but it looks almost exactly like it.)
