Spanking a kid is barbaric, but starving them into submission is..........what, exactly? I see some mention of kids self image and self worth, let me offer a humble counterpoint....if a kid is the kind of kid, who gets his little ass slapped on a regular basis, and without throwing the blanket of abuse where it may not belong....it;s entirely possible that said kid probably -should- have low self esteem, a poor self image. He just might be an asshole. I had a buddy that liked to torture animals. Stabbed my dog with a mop handle (the dog panicked and sent me to hospital, damn near sheared off my face, 142 stitches). Counseling didn't seem to help and I don't think that I could really tell a mother to commit her son - that's something she'd have to decide herself. While it's an extreme case - I don't think that anyone would shed a tear when his mommy boxed his fucking ears in. I know I didn't.
