In other words, the exact opposite of how Jesus counseled his followers to deal with people.

You mean do unto others as you would have them do to you?

And do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles. Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you. From one who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic. From one who takes away your goods, do not demand them back.

As a Christian, you're not supposed to meet us on our terms. You're supposed to meet us as a Christian. If you're not able to do that, you're actually doing more against Christianity than you are for it. It often strikes me how little attention Christians pay to the advice of Jesus in the Gospels. American Christians wouldn't be hemorrhaging their next generation if they focused more on being what Jesus told them to be and less on being a political party. Just my two cents.
