If he really was God, then that would not have been a problem. On the other hand, if he really was God then there would have been an avalanche of writings mentioning him and the things that he did, and not just a few scattered memoirs from which the Church salvaged four of the less bizarre ones to include in the Bible. IMO, the Bible would be much improved by the inclusion of the Gospel of Thomas.
