Yes religions represent the god of that religion as portrayed by that religion, and we only have that much to work with as the only claims about god comes from religions.
Think of it like this LR, if I walk up to you and tell you stories about how smart my daughter is, to you, those stories would represent her unless you meet her yourself. But what if my daughter is different than the stories, or what if I just made it all up? The only information you have to work with is what I give you, and thus your mental image, be it right or wrong is bound by it.
So far we've had no indication of any god's existence outside the claims of various religions, so why should I take your assertion about god's nature outside of religion when there's no proof of god's existence in the first place?
