I am from the love & weird city of Portland, Oregon, the bicycling capital of America. I have heard that it is also the breakfast capital of America because you can get all kinds of creative and satisfying breakfasts almost anywhere or anytime....but hey, that is no surprise because it's a known foodie city for any meal of the day.
It is a place where nature meets city, with lots for green forested and flowered space within the city as well as the forests and mountains that rise above and beyond it. It is full of awesome restaurants and hangouts. It is a city of waterways and bridges and majestic views.
It is a youthful, vibrant, colorful place where you can breathe in fresh air and life and feel invigorated! it's a city of neighborhoods with distinct personalities worthy of visits by transplants and travelers alike. It is a city of sports enthusiasts and outdoor adventurists, with a wide variety of healthy and happy addictions to choose from. It is a place of music on the streets and in the parks and in the couple of hundred live music venues. It is a place of art and art galleries and a place for artists to make their home. And yes, it is the city of weirdness and liberalism as people come here to be more of what they are, whatever that may be....or just be weird to give others something to laugh or talk about.
Portland, Stumptown, PDX, or whichever name is your habit, it's a great place to be from and hang your hat.
