Colanth made the positive statement God does not exist, thus proof of the positive statement needs proof, just because one has a negative attitude toward God doesn't mean they do not make positive statements against His existance, thus proof should be required.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
