Not to derail the thread but back in my union days we had some really shitty managers. Male and female. But there was a difference.
I had meetings with entire groups, 12-15 employees where every one of them denounced the manager as an egotistical fuckhead who did not know his ass from his elbow. The point is that they ALL hated him with a white hot passion. These managers were invariably male...and, not to push stereotypes too far...usually short males. They were equal opportunity bastards who thought that bullying was the way to get the job done.
Then there were the shitty female managers. Whole different thing. They practiced 'divide and conquer.' They would have a small clique, 1 or 2 friends, who they would go out to lunch with and pal around with and every other woman in the group was on the outs. Their pals would get the choice assignments. By this time the job was getting to be primarily female so there were few males in the group. They rarely had any complaints about their female managers but when it was woman to woman you could cut the tension with a knife. As Chris Rock noted women could rule the world except for one thing: "Women hate women."
The dynamics were fascinating.
Okay - back to shitty cops.
