Wow. I think the first requirement for being a cop would be to foreswear preemptively killing citizens you think might pose a danger to you. Cops who prefer to let 'god' sort them out should be in jail themselves.

The guy did go on a crime spree, he set fire to a church and stole a rifle, which he then proceeded to point at himself and other police officers. It could have gone a lot worse than it did.
