9+5 = 14 = 5

How about this -

For any number base n and digit k where k is between 0 and n-1

(n-1)+k = n+(k-1)
= 1+(k-1). (remember that in number base n the quantity n is written as 10)
= k. succeed !

Turns out that EVERY number system has this property.
