If you can't do that in there, then AC does seem like a must. Just think of your future generations and try to keep it in decent levels. I guess you can be comfortable indoors at a nice temperature of 25ºC (~77F), during the Summer and 18ºC (~65F) in the Winter, right?
We keep it around 72F in the summer, both because our apartment has no natural shade (which would be the best solution, ecologically-speaking, but it's not our call to make and we won't be here in the decades it would take for a tree to grow that tall). My wife is much more sensitive to heat than I am. I freeze in the winter (I can manage about 67F), she burns up in the summer.
Where I used to live, in central Virginia, it was even worse in the summer than in Kentucky (90F+ temps all summer with gross, stinking humidity so thick you can barely breathe), so that's something, I guess. thesummerqueen knows what I'm talking about, I bet, if not even moreso.
