And imagine how much more they all could have accomplished if the time they spent in church praying to imaginary deities, if all the money they'd spent tithing, etc etc, had been made available to them again.
Religion stunts science inherently; a book that says "here's all the answers, and don't question them or you'll go to hell," is not conducive to an inquisitive temperament, even leaving aside the time aspect. Besides, you're misrepresenting the sentiment that rob was expressing; "Religion stunts science," is not the same as "there are no religious scientists," so proving the latter wrong doesn't even address the former.

I'm sure that's a very convenient position for you to take: are you going to even attempt to demonstrate it, or are you just happy asserting that the thing you're arguing for doesn't have to play by any of the rules by which we could confirm or falsify its existence?
