Quote:No, not like any parent. I'm a parent too, and I didn't train him to be atheist. I didn't "teach" him what I thought to be true. I did answer his questions, without pulling any punches, just as his mother did. Just so you know, at that time his mother was Catholic.I don't think it is wrong per se to teach your children what you think is true - We all indoctrinate children into something, and kids grow up seeing their parents as role models - Indoctrination is only applied when someone does not like/Agree with something, because if the person accusing others of indoctrination agrees with the teaching they'll change the label from "indoctrination" to "moderate teachings".
I believe parents shouldn't impose their ideas on kids - It shouldn't be against the law, but it is immoral - But everyone believes in something, whether it's a god, a higher purpose, an ideology, a set of morality or a simple hobby - And like any other parent, we all want to teach stuff to our kids. Because we live in a free society and since we can't all be right, the government shouldn't have a saying on who's more right when it comes to things like morality and religion (because of secularism) and so the only way to peacefully tolerate each other socially is to allow every person to believe and follow whichever principles they support.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
