Man in the moon lookin' down at me --
it's the only face that I can see, and
even he says that he needs space.
I'll find my comfort eventually,
'cause they say nobody lives in a vacuum --
nobody lives in a blank room --
I don't believe them and they don't believe me
when I say I'm friends with the man in the moon.
And that's the way it goes.
Man in the trenchcoat livin' like a king, he's got
nineteen rocks set into his ring and
twenty-two cars and a grand estate
and he don't think that
it means a thing, cause he's
got no one there for the ride.
He's got no one there at his side.
And this big bang blowing us apart --
millions of worlds: millions of hearts --
that's why it terrifies me when you talk about "space"
because I don't know where it ends,
or even where it starts.
And who knows where it goes?
I could tell you quite a few things about being alone ...
most likely quite a few things you already know.
Man in the moon lookin' out at the stars --
Trenchcoat King's up to forty-one cars --
I say everybody lives in a vacuum
as I sit here in this blank room
playing my guitar.
And that's the way it goes.
it's the only face that I can see, and
even he says that he needs space.
