Common I can't be the first to have told you.

That would be "Come on," (including the comma). FFS, Drippy, if you're going to insult my intelligence or integrity, at least have the decency to pay attention to your spelling and grammar so you at least approach the English language.

It has to do with the definition of the word Holy. It means set apart, with out spot or blemish. If your lance armstrong-ing it like it or not you are with blemish. In the OT God physically set a standard from which we may use to apply or understand the Spiritual standard.

We understand well the ancient Hebrew tribal priests' fascination with unblemished things (virgins captured in war... sheep that can't have spots or stripes, unless of course you're Laban using Lamarckian environmental acquired characteristics hypotheses... et cetera), and are amazed that you'd try to defend that bigoted thinking simply because you credit the words to god rather than to the prejudices of ancient priests in their attempts to figure out how to be holy.

It's called an Analogy. No we are not hand held tools but we are all designed to serve a specific purpose in that way we are Tool Like.

Hmmm, no. And I understood the analogy you were trying to make (it boggles my mind that in your mind you thought a guy with my level of grammar and education and IQ would somehow miss the fact that you were trying to make an analogy). Just let that sink in for a moment.

And my point was that you failed. Humans are not "designed" for a specific purpose, though I can see why the tribal priests mentioned above might prefer if we all looked at ourselves that way, since it suits their power-hierarchy social structure to promote such a view. And it is CERTAINLY not true that a person who is any of the things on that list would be unable to be holy, unless you want to argue that God made Levite dwarves (etc) only for the purpose of denying them their birthright because he's a jerk-- after all, you assert that this god of yours defines what is holy. Think about what you're saying, man!

No i have not justified anything. I simply framed a command of God in the social structure in which it was originally given. You in your "horrible thinking" as to remove the original social structure and you apply your own. What is truly horrible is to take an innocent command that subdivides people based on strengths, and weaknesses and apply your own bigotry and hate to change this command into something that it is not. If anything you are the monster here for not honoring the time culture and stated command, by superseding what is written with your modern take of what this command would mean in your own corrupt mind/world.

And this is why I said you have Acquired Sociopathy from your religion, in my address to LFC, above. I have no bigotry and hate, though I can see why you'd need to Project it onto me in order to defend your own. I am the one who is arguing that all men and women can be holy, and potentially (if not actually, because of personality or intellect, etc.) qualified for the priesthood, without the artificial subdivisions your OT imposes. As to the final sentences about "honoring the time culture", I just want to say:

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND!? There is nothing honorable about those sentences, even (especially?) allowing for the "time culture".

1) I know an enormous amount about ancient cultures, in particularly the ancient Greek and Hebrew ones that have had so much impact on Western culture, because I was a history minor, because I like to read, and because I grew up in a fundamentalist church which spent a LOT of its time talking about the Hebrew cultural basis for Christianity.

2) You're claiming god's morality is a permanent, fixed thing. And so you're stuck defending what is obvious bigotry in the ancient world, instead of thanking your god that we've moved past the point in human history when we thought things like dwarfism were curses from the gods, and thus unclean/unholy/etc. Well, most of us have moved past. For you to denigrate three thousand years of human social progress shows us where your programming has forever rooted you.

BS. The command was not to treat people badly who did not measure up. The command was to isolate a few so as to serve a specific task. You in your own warp value system you are the one who assigns special value on one job over another. That is why you can claim this is not about a social value system, but if and when you do use the tool analogy and apply to the people of Israel to being assigned tasks and specific Jobs as God intended (A theme that carries over to the NT in the "one body many parts" Sermon Paul makes in 1 Corth.) then you whole objection gets flushed.

The only time your objection has any merit is in a "I" society or an individualist society where the Part/indivisual is considered to be greater than the whole. Again this is a failed/failing social structure that can not sustain it self more than one or two generations before social collapse reclaims it. Where as "one body many parts" approach has sustained humanity for millennia.

And that's why your a douche. You seem to think your the pinnical of social and physical evolution and everything else is crap. You can't even be bothered to consider any culture or cultural thinking not your own. You just pick and choose bits and pieces to formulate an 'evil strawman' and you try and knock it down.

warped* value system

your* whole objection

Part/individual* (that one appears to be an honest typo)

you're* a douche

pinnacle* of social and physical evolution

Geezus, man. When you attack someone for not being smart (or wise) enough to consider your argument's validity, at least focus on your argument's readability. And fuck you for saying I can't be bothered to consider other cultures. You and I can understand Muslim culture (as well as anyone in the West can, anyway), and still loathe the elements of it that use their religion to blow up marathons/cafes/kids/etc. Just as you can look at the Muslims, understand what their claims really are (I don't know if you actually do or not, I'm just presuming you do for the sake of this discussion), and still see right through their bullshit when they try to tell you why the Revealed Holy Qur'an says such-and-such is okay... well, I see you the same way.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
