I spent 5 hours this weekend looking for a cheap antique mirror-less standing mirror for my daughter. My daughter is really into interpretive dance and drama, I'm now going to keep her away from any and all props, cheerleader and flag people.
Sorry about that. I enjoyed marching band/color guard season when they performed at halftimes and in competitions but then I have a weakness for a good marching band. I watched about a dozen videos of winter guard Friday trying to see what I was in for (actually fast forwarded through most of them). I kept telling myself that it has to be better in person...yeah, well I was wrong about that. Mostly I sat stunned with my jaw dropped thinking 'okay, something really good is bound to happen 'cause it hasn't happened yet'. Yeah, wrong about that too. Mostly it was awful - the music was awful, most of the costumes were awful, the time spent rolling out huge floor mats and then rolling them up again gave time to wonder - wth was that I just watched. I am impressed that with all the things thrown up into the air no one was wounded upon descent. The saving grace will be that there is only one more of these shindigs within reasonable driving distance this season.
Bail gets her PE credit for participating and it's good practice for marching band/color guard in the late summer and fall...and I suppose it keeps her off the streets.
OY!
