Born in 66 here.
The first music I remember hearing was at five -- it wasn't on the radio, per se, but on the 8-track with Mom taking us with her grocery shopping. The album? Tapestry, from Carole King. And Mom played it a lot, so that it got burned into my brain. A beautiful work; I've gone out and bought it a couple of times as an adult, because it's one of those albums which bears repeated listenings. A sample:

First song I remember hearing on the radio? "Do it Again", from Steely Dan -- a little later, I had just started first grade and my sister and I were walking to Sprouse-Reitz to spend our allowances -- a whole quarter! -- with her little blue transistor radio cranked. Not being a musician at the time, I had no appreciation for Denny Dias's fantastic solo on electric "sitar" -- but the song sure grabbed my ear, and years later, when I got into the Dan from another route, I was gladly surprised to learn that this was in their songbook:

That same day, walking home, "Rock On" came on ... but good lord, I can't stand that song, and so won't post it here.
The first album I ever bought, A New World Record I got because I'd heard this on the radio, about ten years old. The opening chords are what made me want to play guitar -- the sound just killed me, it resonated in my little brain so hard.

Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane, Pops. Good stuff -- looking forward to the other replies.
