Based on the battle experience and history of both countries plus the military spending of America.
Anyone who's done anything competitive ever knows the value of experience, and America has a fuck load of experience of fighting across the world and experience with all kinds of weaponry ranging from nukes to subtle espionage.
It would be interesting to see what alliances would be made. Russia would probably be laughing along with a large majority of the Muslim middle east.
Based on what I remember from my days in the Islamic forums they would pray for horrible things to happen to China nearly as much as America.
I remember watching a video about this a few weeks ago. Obviously the video probably isn't entirely accurate, but it suggests that China would have an advantage at the beginning but eventually the US would have the upper hand, and that's just on their own - If a war between the US and China were to actually happen, no doubt the entire West would back the US.
I wonder what Russia would do in this case.
My opinion is this:
a) If USA fights China, it's WW3. Russia will probably wait until the end - not interferring - and at the end boast itself as the most developed country on earth.
b) If USA fights Russia, it's WW3. China will probably wait until the end - not interferring - and at the end itself as the most developed country on earth.
As about which of the two win the war, I think that is impossible to say. For the time being USA can boast itself as the greatest military power on earth. Fame matters a lot in international politics & influence, until a big war begins. At that point, you can expect anything.

No doubt? Depends on who's starting it and why. I would remind you that not even in the case of Iraq the whole west backed the US. Because it was considered an unjustified war of agression by most of the larger western powers. Only the UK and Spain remained, apart from the usual suspects in Eastern Europe. And Micronesia, of course.
Also, I'd add, with all the muslim terrorists and syrian refugees, I hear lots of people blaming it all on USA, as if it's the devil on earth - and as if Russia were better.
You only need demagogues in the far-right taking positions of power in the European countries, and that "backing up" would probably go to shit. If you add how much trade goes on between Europe and China, you'd only have to wonder whether the people citizens would risk nuclear missles from China, grave economic trouble, and an economic dependency to Russia, just to be "honorable" and help an ally in need.
And in any war, it matters terribly to convince the world that you're the innocent one, and the other the aggressor. If the world sees you as the bully, you're likely to get no help at all.

Also, believing in a god has nothing to do with my political viewpoint. I am not an opponent of gay marriage but I do believe it is not natural. I will not support it, but at the same time I'm not against it. I'd say indifferent.
Anyways.
Trump is for America.
I can hardly believe that any politician is heart & soul for his country.
