Grow The Fuck Up Already...

I'm sorry for the tone I'm starting to take here.  It's a little irritating having people with no knowledge of the situation passively insisting that I am absolutely wrong.

Here's the thing.  Whiny people exist.  Whiny people who take advantage of others also exist, as do whiny people who whine to get out of work, but still get paid.  It's not like I'm making some fantastical claim about some mythical creature here.  People like I am describing unquestionably exist.  And I am talking from firsthand experience, albeit my wife's firsthand experience, not my own.  So what reason can you give me not to take my wife's word for it?  Realistically, none.  You couldn't reliably pick one of these people out of a lineup if I put 2 of them in a lineup of 5 people.  You don't know ANYTHING about them.  My wife does.  My wife knows them personally.

So is it possible that my wife is wrong, repeatedly, in every single case?  Sure.  Do you have some evidence to suggest that this is true?  No.  Yes, there are also people who really have mental issues.  So what?  I'm not talking about those people, I'm talking about these people.  Do I expect to convince you that I'm right?  Why would I expect that?  You have only my word, which isn't worth shit as far as you know.  But my word ALSO isn't automatically a lie or mistaken as far as you know, which is how you are acting.  You are acting like I am wrong until I prove myself right.

My wife has lots of reasons for believing as she does.  It has become far more common in the last decade or so, it has reached a ridiculous percentage of the work force, it is almost exclusively women in their late teens to early 20s, etc.  There are lot of factors which make her believe as she does.  But I don't owe you an explanation just because you're butthurt over the notion that she might, based on no reason than personal feelings being hurt, be wrong.

So enough with the ludicrous accusations already.  There is no "mind reading" involved when a trained professional with a degree in mental health forms an opinion that someone does not have a mental disorder.  That's just a bullshit argument tactic to make my argument look stupid and, in this case, it is WRONG.  If you had bothered to get any information before forming the opinion that I was definitely wrong I would have happily given you these facts.  But let's face it, we're not interested in pesky "facts" in this stupid argument, are we?  We're just interested in making the person who got us all butthurt look bad.

And that is why I did not want to argue with you.  I'm not interested in a pissing contest.  I AM entitled to believe what I like.  I do not have to prove that a person with a degree in psychology who has had direct contact with the people I am talking about actually knows more about these particular people than a person who likely does not posses a degree in psychology and who couldn't pick one of these people out of a lineup of two because that person doesn't even know to which of the 7 billion people on the planet I am referring.  That is actually a given.  I don't owe you an explanation.  I don't owe you "proof" of any sort.  I'm not making some outlandish claim of fantastical magical fancy here.  My claim is actually pretty mundane, AND it is backed by a mental health professional (in fact, my opinion comes directly from said mental health professional).  What do you have?  A hurt butt and PTSD.  And your PTSD is...what?  A super power which allows you to look across time and space to the specific people I am talking about and definitively refute the opinion of the mental health professional who deals with them directly?  Fuck, sign me up for PTSD if that's the case.  My wife is speaking from personal experience, as a professional, dealing with these people directly.  You are speaking from personal experience, presumably not as a professional, of your own mental disorder, having nothing whatsoever to do with these people.  So do I need to refute your bullshit argument tactics to justify accepting my wife's professional opinion.  No, I do not.  Do I need to convince you that I am right?  No, I do not.  But it is absolutely unquestionable that people like I am describing exist.  So what possible reason could you have for believing that these people can't be "that type" of people?  It's simple.  You don't want to.

But, Faith, you wanted me to argue, so fine, I argued.  No "mind reading" was involved.  The person forming the opinion is actually qualified to form that opinion, thank you.  And it doesn't hurt to know the people directly.  I am not arguing from "stupidity about mental illness", but from the opinion of someone with an actual degree in psychology.  If you had bothered to get any information before making your accusations then you would not have ignorantly assumed that I made any "assumptions" which were, themselves, "ignorant".  That's actually what you did in ignorantly making that claim without any actual knowledge of any of the facts.  I don't have a crystal ball to lend you and I certainly hope you already have your own mental health professional, so I doubt you will need the services of my wife.  I don't recall claiming that mental illness was in any way a "magic power" before this post, and I was actually lead to believe that by your mystical power to reach across the Internet and know facts of my life which I did not give you.  They're all wrong, but the fact that you "know" them is still pretty impressive...or was it stupid?  Yeah, "stupid" is the one.  And I would like to personally apologize for all the people who ever judged you at work.  I'm not sure how, but apparently I am personally responsible for that.  I am sorry that I...somehow...made you feel bad about yourself at work...without ever being there.  And yes, I can extrapolate my experiences to everyone else in the very same way your PTSD allows you to instantly judge me wrong on all counts without any facts whatsoever.

As for that last line, that was just moronic, even by the standards of the rest of your post where you consistently drew conclusions without any evidence or reason for any of them.  It was another bullshit argument, a strawman, in this case.  I never said leave your "mental" shit at home.  I said leave your "personal" shit at home.  In context, ie, the "My boyfriend just broke up with me" example that I gave, what I said was NOTHING LIKE the bullshit you claimed I said.  Not even in the same solar system, much less ballpark.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Hence the question-mark at the end of what was, you know, a question. I wonder why a simple question has you so riled you're resorting to cussing at someone who has been polite to you?

Oh, I don't know.  Perhaps it was the second person who doesn't have a single fact piling on, pretending to so "wisely" assist me in understanding what they, themselves, have absolutely zero knowledge of?  Could have been it, maybe?
