That's why I always put one caveat in when talking about Capital Punishment. I'm sure if someone hurt my loved ones, I would like that person to suffer. I understand the ones who clamor for their death. The caveat always has a second part though. The state isn't supposed to carry out my revenge but to keep society safe. And that can be done just as well by locking them away.
I always admire the victim's families who staunchly oppose capital punishment. And there are lots of them. I'm not entirely sure, but I seem to remember that even in this case, family members spoke out against dishing out death.
