Your claim that Varanasi is not older than 4000 years does mean anything.
After few thousand years buildings start crumbling.
Those who make that study were clever enough to find temples dating back 4000 years.
Look at the colosseum which is about 2000 years.
Half is already crumbled down and the rest stand up thanks to continuous restoration otherwise even that would have gone by now.
No wonder that the experts find difficult to go behind the limit of 4000 years.
Oh... I think if there was something to find they should have found it by now... I mean, just look at what they found a few years ago:
