Moderate Christianity - Even More Illogical Than Fundamentalist Christianity?

Moderate Christianity is nothing more than a way for people to rationalize all the horrible parts of the bible without ditching their security blanket. They can ditch all the hatred and less believable parts and only pay attention to the "good message"... which is mostly bullcrap because there's no "good" message in the bible that is not simply common sense.

@ Cinjin you show how little you understand scriptures, what you do show is you know enough to try and distort God's word. For those who are willing to study scripture we see through your pitiful attempt to distort scriptures, keep it up if that's what you need to do but do not expect that such irresponsible actions impress believers. Of coarse most of the unbelievers in this forum will applaud you and that is probably what you desire.

Why GC??

You seem to be doing a fantastic job of showing your ignorance of "the scriptures" as it is!! ROFLOL

Great entertainment value as always.

He does hate. You condescend, but most of us have and do study scriptures.

This one immediately sprang to mind:

scripture Wrote:"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19)

Seems like piddly things to hate in the big picture.

Quote:God hates no one, so he could not hate in the manner you described above.

Who doesn't study scripture?

scripture Wrote:The burden of the Word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi. I have loved you, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob. And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage to waste for the dragons of the wilderness. (Malachi 1:1-3)

He hated Esau.

scripture Wrote:Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious. (Hosea 9:15)

He hated Israelites.

Quote:What God does hate are the sinful actions of man not man himself. If it were true that God hated anyone then he would not have sent his Son to redeem mankind, that would be a great contradiction and as you stated yourself God is not moderate, he sent Christ for all and not just for a special few.

Can you prove it? I know you can't, so let me ask you this:

Why did he have to send himself as his son to die for our sins? He's god, right? So why did he not just forgive? I am not even close to god-like, but all I have to do to forgive people is just decide to do so. Seems stupid to me. I guess it isn't if you don't actually think about it.

Quote:You judge God on the actions of his fallible followers, none of us are close to perfect, but if you must pick people to judge God by find those who are actually doing what Christ teaches. That would however require you to come to some kind of a understanding of his teachings through scripture.

I could pick some teachings out of a hat and do better than the teaching of the scripture. I read all of them, though... I know you just picked out the ones that made it easier for you to keep your lunch down, and keep your faith.

I get applauded loudly and openly every single week here in my REAL life at every gig I perform. I don't come here seeking approval. Is it nice? Sure it is, but pointing out your flawed ideas and your awesome lack of understanding of the scriptures is far more enjoyable. You constantly say things of the Bible that are completely untrue and are not remotely researched. You RARELY can back up ANYTHING you say. Your credibility here regarding all things Biblical is nearly, if not completely non-existent.
