Well, community, I just had an encounter with "god."
I tend to be a more moderate atheist, and I consider and weigh the arguments of the religious without bashing them, unless they say something bigoted against minorities, nonbelievers, or women.

Anyway, after recalling a discussion I had on another forum today, I decided to give god a chance. I opened my mind, and really tried to want to be contacted by god.

After a minute or two, I started hearing strange, whispering voices. I had a "holy shit" moment, and tried to figure out logically what the hell was going on. I realized after a few seconds that the voice was dull and rather hard to understand.

So I turned up the volume on my pc speakers. And it turned out that the voice was a commercial on a website running minimized.

I figured it out, because I didn't just jump straight to superstition. But a mentally ill person who actually hears voices, or an ignorant person who wouldn't investigate what was causing the noise? This just goes to show how a simple coincidence can give people personal (bullshit) experiences with god.
What falls away is always, and is near.

What you failed to realize is that God was talking to you through that commercial. You know, mysterious ways and all that.
