Too bad the same miracle working god can't manage basic economy by simply stopping the the sinful from breeding and letting everything else live happily on.

On, I forget, god works in mystiously wonderful, but totally idiotic and barbarous looking, and suspiciously Bedouin tyrant like, ways.

Haha. Actually no, the skin of most saltwater aquatic mammals will slough off if they stay in fresh water too long.

Try again.

Quote:It cannot float! Wooden ships built by highly experienced builders with good materials available to them built ships at 350ft and guess what ---

Not to defend what's-his-name,merely to correct a possible misperception: it is not the size of Noah's Ark which would sink it,but the design. The Chinese built ocean-going ships 37 metres ( 450 feet)long in the fourteenth century. They were used by admiral Zheng He in his epic journeys. BUT they were of shallow keel and very wide. (half as wide as long)

We know this for a fact, for one was discovered in China not that long ago. The ships were built in DRY DOCKS,the first in the world.

I recently saw a documentary showing the recovery of one of the huge ships.

There is a (ahem) ship load of information about Zheng He his ships and his voyages on line

Quote:Size of the Treasure Ships:

Incredibly, the largest ships in the fleet (called baoshan, or "treasure ships") were likely between 440 and 538 feet long by 210 feet wide. These 4-decked baoshan had an estimated displacement of 20-30,000 tons, roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the displacement of modern American aircraft carriers. Each had nine masts on its deck, rigged with square sails that could be adjusted in series to maximize efficiency in different wind conditions.

Aye, the whole - Larger the base, the taller the tower. The greater the surface area the greater the load. Noah's ark doesn't exactly qualify. So, it's length and as well as it's design will prove disastrous.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

It seems the Chinese understood concepts such as load -bearing stress and centre of gravity, but God did not.Thinking

Oh, our deluded little pet claimed that ships were not caulked before they were launched. He really doesn't have a clue, does he.

Not only are the chinese smarter than us, but apparently they are smarter than God.
the ships were caulked usually with hemp rope, pitch, and hemp wax or bees wax.
