Question about Rastafari Movement

RE: Question about Rastafari Movement
Quote:But you're right. There's nothing wrong with smoking it [quote]

There is nothing morally wrong,as far as I'm concerned.

BUT there are some serious health concerns with even casual use:

Marijuana smoke is several times more carcinogenic than tobacco smoke.

There are also strong correlations between marijuana use and damage to male chromosones (source; The Lance, study done about 25 years ago)

There is also an anecdotal correlaltion (among doctors) between heavy use and brain aneurisms.

Do I care if you you smoke your brains out on the drug of your choice? No, not really, I'm just being pedantic. Tiger

Then how come the incidence of lung cancer under long time cannabis users is lower than under non-smokers (of anything)? The proof of the pudding is in the eating!

Stubbornly repeating the establishment mantra doesn't make it true you know. It only reminds me of the mindless Jehovah's Witnesses that disturb my lie-in on weekend mornings! GRRR! Angry

Is this one of the studies http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200...084701.htm?

"The PI values for light and moderate marijuana users improved over the month of abstinence. There was no improvement for heavy marijuana users. The light users smoked two to 15 joints per week. The moderate users smoked 17 to 70 joints per week, and the heavy users smoked 78 to 350 joints per week."

Fucking hell that is a lot, I smoked a bit 2 years ago. But that would be maybe 1-3 joints a month containing maybe 1g of weed which I also split with 2 others.

I don't know where you got it, but that definition is complete BS, from beginning to end! Nobody smokes 50 – fifty ! – joints a day! There wouldn't be enough time to sleep or eat, two fav pastimes reefer heads indulge in to the max! And you can't steal car stereos with a reefer glued to your fingers.
Ten – 10 – a day is a very heavy user! Maybe one in 1,000 users. 50 a day is physically impossible.

PLUS it depends of course entirely on the strength and purity of the weed, ganja, or hashisch one uses, as well as the method of ingestion/administering: smoking, vaporizing, or digesting.
None of those factors are accounted for, or even hinted at, in that BS definition while their effects on the user (of whom no two are alike, BTW) vary and fluctuate the user's experience wildly IRL.

Exactly, so could padraic please post some studies that show what he's on about?

That's the article that I thought he was talking about, but maybe it isn't.

RE: Question about Rastafari Movement
The only part I agree with about Rastafarian is that you get to smoke weed and call it religious persecution if someone asks me to put my joint down. Other than that, no fuck Rastafarian, just a bastardization of Christianity and African Tribal Gods.

Yes, because personal use is legal here.

No, because I don't want to spoil dinner. Not mine, nor others'.
