Or at least to the point where you can declare your atheism openly without having people think you worship Satan. I think that's probably a pipe dream, it will probably take about 50-100 years for this to happen, though the signs are encouraging. The younger American generation is more atheist than any which has come before it.

In 20 years our national psyche my well be wondering why god's country on earth would have its economic position on the planet beaten to a pulp by atheistic comunistic socialistic china.

Probably because we became tolerant of gay people.

My fellow Americans, ask not what ails our labor productivity, our infrastructure, our education, our repect fo science, our foreign policy, our concept of balance between civilian and military; ask how consenting adults could dare to have some private fun!

There was a recent quote on fstdt.com where some ignorant fundie was claiming that the country needed to vote for Santorum for president because he's the most Christian. If we elect the most Christian candidate for president, then God would fix the economy.

If that's what these people truly believe, then we are fucked.

I've noticed, especially in my country, that I rarely encounter religious people apart from Muslims. I know quite a few people that have converted to Islam, mostly white girls that are drawn in by the whole ~modesty~ thing.

I don't think it is dying, nor do I expect it to do so. All I wish for is that it become insignificant. And that I think will happen.

I think Christianity and all the Abrahamic religions are dying, and good riddance, yet Buddhism is growing in place of them as an alternative because it makes alot more sense and it's alot more laid back. People want to be inspired, they want a "higher power". Buddha supplies this spiritual desire very powerfully, and very systematically. Buddha cannot be dismounted from his great meditative posture. He is just so fucking cool! He says OM and everyone hears it indirectly.
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.

I just don't understand why women like that want to convert to a religion which requires them to be covered head to toe while in public. I understand they may want to be modest, but requiring headscarves or in some countries burkas, not to mention not being allowed to walk around without being chaperoned, is just crazy. Perhaps maybe they want to be treated as doormats or as property, I don't know.
