Hello from across the pond
Hi all
I am a spiritual agnostic which means I am not sure if there is a God and if there is, they are nothing like any religion has come up with and I am still try to stabilising my belief's and trying to set them in concrete.
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful" - Edward Gibbon (Offen misattributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca or Seneca the Younger) (Thanks to apophenia for the correction)
'I am driven by two main philosophies:
Know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you' - Neil deGrasse Tyson
"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." - Mark Twain

Hi Gooders, welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new myself but have found some really thoughtful and reasoned arguments put forward by the bright, intelligent people who frequent here. I hope you find it as interesting and enjoyable as I am! Smile
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true - Carl Sagan

Hello to you too but not from across the pond, seeing as I too am a resident of this sceptred isle.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
