Freewill of Mass Murderers

RE: Freewill of Mass Murderers
"Free will" of mass murderers, of any species, is an irrelevant concept. You take mass murderers out, doublequick, to prevent 'm continuing their atrocities and making even more innocent victims.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a system that delivered instant justice with absolutely no harm being done to the victim? Like if an attacker trying to stab someone, instead of the victim receiving the stab wound, the attacker receives the wound in the exact same place. Making any attack futile as you'll only be harming yourself, literally.

Why didn't god think of that? Completely solves the problem of murders and the like.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Well, you're omitting unintentional injuries....which would suck to be on the reverse-receiving end of.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

God, in his omnipotence, would have been able to differentiate between intentional and unintentional injuries.

I haven't seen any reason to feel confident that this is the case...lol. I don't see any metrics we could deem god to be remotely competent by, let alone ultimately or completely competent...I'd expect Little Polly Pepperpot of Des Moines Iowa to receive a mysterious stab wound on her left ankle for the crimes a toad somewhere in Georgia attempted to commit against a tin can....if god were the one pulling the levers on this system.

What about these whack-jobs?

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2009/02/12/D...234475937/

Quote:Hagerman said that God had told him to kill his son, Joshua, to keep him from the anti-Christ.

Listening to some of our nuttier theists they are always saying that god is whispering in their ear. How come this is not a valid defense? Who is to say that the murderous god of the OT or even his wimpy son didn't tell this guy to waste his own kid?

Don't forget, the USA is a secular country Wink A practice it seems they only apply when it suits them.

God said don't eat the apple, they ate the apple. It's the best bit of the bible! I lost the plot after that. It got a bit silly and theres no pictures of Eve looking sexy in fig leaves.

3/10.

I don't know what my point is (Or indeed if this was the thread I meant to post in) ... sorry.

(February 9, 2012 at 5:10 pm)Forsaken Wrote: Hitler and Stalin’s mass murders, Gunmen storming schools in USA and killing in numbers, the guy in Norway killing almost a hundred people, the serial rapists, etc, are all examples of the god given gift of freewill to humans.

My question: is preserving the "freewill" of a single mass murderer more important than god intervening and saving the thousands and millions he (mass murderer) kills? What about the torment and life of despair faced by the loved ones of the people who were killed? Human emotion will drive even the most law abiding (be it the law of the land or the unwritten norms of the society) person to contemplate revenge (thus committing a sin). Why did god build the factor of "human emotion" in us then? If freewill was his gift, then people should be able to go about doing anything they want without affecting the emotions of others.

Didn't freewill exist in the early years of the bible? Why do you see verses after verses of god "instructing" someone to do something in the old testament? According to the bible, the freewill concept was set into motion as soon as Adam and Eve committed the first sin. So the characters in the old testament clearly had freewill and god was clearly dictating over their lives. Thus, the freewill concept fails!

God doesn't give the gift of "free will" and the concept of "free will" didn't existed in bible times as we know it now. Concepts get defined over time.

You're just looking back in hindsight.
