RE: Psalm 137:9
Quote:Well I said I would look into it and so I did. The fact is, tyre was destroyed. The attack of nebuchadnezzar was 586 to 573 bc. It was 13 yeas of siege until it was finally destroyed. It wasn't completely destroyed but the ruins on the island fort are still there today. Um, that's not what your fucking "prophet" said. Quote:19 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When I make you a desolate city, like cities no longer inhabited, and when I bring the ocean depths over you and its vast waters cover you, 20 then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of long ago. I will make you dwell in the earth below, as in ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, and you will not return or take your place[c] in the land of the living. 21 I will bring you to a horrible end and you will be no more. You will be sought, but you will never again be found, declares the Sovereign LORD.”Ezekiel 26 Who the fuck are you to re-define scripture so it fits with reality? Looks like god fucked up big time. For the record, Nebuchadnezzar did not destroy the city. Tyre was not conquered until Alexander the Great built a causeway out to it a couple of centuries later, knocked down the walls with battering rams and sacked the place. Your fucking 'god' did not mention "Alexander." Even Alex did not destroy the city which was far too valuable a harbor to be abandoned. By the way, you may want to brush up on your "scripture" ( and I get tired of telling you guys what is in your own book ) Quote:Matthew 15:21-28 So not only was it not destroyed but fucking jesus went there on his grand walking tour of the ANE. BTW, how come when jesus freaks trot it out it is not an "obscure" reference but evidence of fulfilled prophecy? Until, that is, it is pointed out that the prophecy is a complete failure. Then it becomes "obscure?" Methinks thou are full of shit, chippy. |

You may not see a difference but tyre was the island. It was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar but Ushu, what the mainland was originally called, was not completely destroyed. It was not refering to Ushu, it was refering to tyre. I am not redefining anything, it in fact did happen like the bible said. God said he would bring many nations against tyre, which he did. Egypt was one of many according to the source that was listed. Yes, Alexander the great did Conquer this city 300 years later. The city of Ushu later named tyre. Then Alexander built a Causway between the mainland to the island out of the remains of the island stronghold. All this is in the source I listed. None of it is bs as you say, it happened. |

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! -4th verse of the american national anthem |

Now to answer the question that popped into your mind, how can I possibly know God's closed scriptures to you, simple, you no longer have any idea what the scriptures mean in part or whole. You have become ignorant to the Grace of God, it's truly a pity. I don't interpret the bible as I please. But I also don't pick 2 sentences from different places in the bible and say they contradict each other. This tactic is dishonest and you should know that. I admit that there are some things in the bible I find that I do not understand. In fact, there's a whole chapter I'm looking into right now that not even my pastor who spends all his time studying the bible could understand. He said he would look to. You see, when I'm stuck, I don't just start pulling answers from nowhere. I actually look deep to find an answer. That's the difference between you and me. I did not read that chapter and say "it's all bs riddled with contradiction. I am still looking for an answer. |

And let me guess ... you see yourself as Moses. What a shock. A sheep sees himself as a fictional character and the man who disputes his idiocy as the nemesis of said fictional character. jesus tapdancing christ, it never gets old with you .... or rather it does! Egyptians kept excellent records. Why is there no record of an adopted son of a pharaoh by the name of Moses leading 2 million Hebrew slaves out of Egypt? You'd think that such an event would've made some major mark in the hieroglyphs somewhere. And yet ... it doesn't exist ... ANYWHERE! That of course is beside the point. You may call me Pharoah, or Judas, or Lucifer or any of the mythical bad guys of the Bible. Choose any villain from any book of fairy tales for that matter - it makes no difference to me - it only affirms what we all know ... You are as a pathetic and useless as your god is. |

You are doing exactly what Matson predicted in the other thread about apologsts. You are grasping for any fucking straw you can find to get your holy horseshit off the hook. It isn't working sonny. "Tyre" was not sunk beneath the waves ( EVER ) which is what your fucking prophet predicted. Get your head out of your ass and face reality. YOUR BIBLE IS BULLSHIT. |

Using fiction to argue points of archaelogical history with an archaeological historian is like using a baked ham to attack a tiger. Choose your battles and your weapons more carefully, is basically what I'm advising.
