Can a tree be murdered?

RE: Can a tree be murdered?
It's horrible. However, I wonder what the difference is between an old tree and a not so old tree? I mean, I'm the first to appreciate ancient trees. My problem is, where is the outrage over the millions of trees that have been destroyed in the past 200 years? It was one tree. If we actually let any of the newer trees survive, there might be more old trees for the future. As this stands, it wasn't murder. She was a tweaked out meth head who set a tree on fire. Make her plant a new tree.

Solid concrete bla-bla to outlast a meth junk?

A wet tissue can do that.

She is guilty of arson, however, and also the tree was probably property.

Sturdier than a 3,500 year old tree? What would you suggest, aside from a Gizeh-like pyramid?

Maybe a bristle cone pine? Older than even the pryamids, and the wood won't rot for thousands of years even after they eventually die. In fact there are still fallen bristle cone pines on the ground that dates to long before god created the universe in 4004 BC.

Relics of the previous management of earth, before Yahweh took over the duties of the beetle god, who appears to have been extremely fond of conifers as well.

I imagine the charge will be "arson."

And probably a few drug counts thrown in for good measure.

The bible got it wrong twice then. Earth, in galactic years, is between 18.2 and 22.2 years old.

Clearly. She should certainly be charged with her crimes. However, beyond it being arson and destruction of public property (it's a national park, I believe), she really did nothing more than what our species does all the time. She ruined a tree. It sucks that it was an old tree, but you don't get extra murder charges for killing an old person. Wink
