Linville Falls

RE: Linville Falls
Absolutely. I only wish I had left earlier in the day so I could go to the adjoining caverns. But it's only a 2.5 hour drive, so perhaps when the rhods are blooming I will go again.

Yeah, right. Big Grin

But aside from that, all those pics are really beautiful ... the woods, trees, rocks, and waterfalls ... words cannot express them.

I would probably fit in there quite easily (as I am indeed skinny), but I wouldn't be able to make a home there nor sleep there. Tongue

That log might be a little too rough for me even though I like a hard bed.

Nonsense - a few buckskins, maybe a bear skin, make some flaps to cover the opening...you'd be peachy keen! Tongue

Rhythm - when you get to this:

"Nymph," you accused me. "Dryad" more likely.

Stunning pictures, makes me realize I need a trip back into the mountains at some point. Thanks for sharing.

I'm looking for some place to go moon over this weekend with the camera. Any suggestions? Somewhere a little closer to home? I just got done telling Cynthia that the 2.5 hour drive was entirely reasonable, but I felt daunted by the drive back in the dark due to the time and my exhaustion and now I want somewhere to go that won't involve me worrying about the time it'll take to get home vs daylight hours.

I'm sure it's further away than you are looking for, but I suggest at some point you go to Mammoth Cave. The hiking is nice, but you won't find anything as pretty as in your pictures. The caverns, however, are an absolute natural wonder that everyone should see at least once in their lives.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
