I do believe I once said that if Christians put their tongues to better uses than saying prayers or hymns, I'd be praising god a lot more often. It's a damn shame that it's been atheists who make me blaspheme and take the Lord's name in vain with greater skill and enthusiasm.

Speaking of 1984, he wasn't actually writing about some society in the future, it wasn't one of those "prophets of science fiction" moments, he was actually making a criticism about governments of his own time by using sci fi and a future society as a narrative device. Isn't that disheartening? To think that as far as he was concerned, 1984 was already there, and look where we are now..lol.
