Write a letter. If your son were older I'd tell him to write a full answer to the question: "The Bible is the most important book ever written because...." something like ....because it's the source document behind so many bad ideas, wars, ignorance etc. Understanding how belief in a document can cause so much trouble and hardship can help us avoid it in the first place. And so on.
As for the OP, I'm not saying this to be rude but has the article you posted been fact checked? It's so outrageous I'm having trouble believing it. I'm also not familiar with the website, but I didn't check it well. It's about one in the morning here and I need to get some sleep.

Well, I've asked to see the book again in case I have it wrong. I read it as that, but maybe it just said "one of the most important".. which isn't MUCH better, but at least doesn't totally piss off the muslims.

I'm guessing by the fact that this story has been widely reported that this kind of thing happening is fairly uncommon. At least I'd hope so.
As for the UK's Religious Education system, whilst I've never experienced anything as outrageous as NMF's kid, I can attest that it is fairly biased towards one point of view. Christianity is taught like it's historical fact, whereas Islam is taught like it's some cockamamie fairytale.
