Some Texas State Board of Education crazy fundie members are up for reelection.
Those who live in Texas make sure you get out and vote. Because of redistricting, all 15 seats on the Texas State Board of Education will be up for grabs in the November 2012 elections. For everyone else read and be horrified. I recently got this email from a friend of mine. I've had to copy and paste it because I can't link to the article:

Texas Needs a Sane
State Board of Education

Are you tired of Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) members who:

say evolution can't be scientifically valid because "dog-cat" or "cat-rat" hybrids don't exist? (as Ken Mercer does) http://www.tfn.org/site/DocServer/Mercer...docID=3105
dismiss respected scholars and experts? (as former board chair Don McLeroy did)http://www.tfn.org/site/PageServer?pagen...ho#MCLEROY
think climate change science is propaganda? (as Charlie Garza does)http://www.tfn.org/site/DocServer/GarzaC...docID=3103
reject the constitutional separation of church and state? (as David Bradley does)http://www.tfn.org/site/DocServer/Bradle...docID=3101
Have you had enough? We have, too.

Ignorance isn’t a Texas value. So it’s time for Texans to elect a new State Board of Education.

All 15 SBOE seats are up for election this year. So the Texas Freedom Network has launched an exclusive SBOE elections online HQ at tfn.org/educate. There you’ll find information about the state board, districts and candidates, and this year’s elections.

And when you visit tfn.org/educate, be sure to add your name to the pledge to change the SBOE this year.

By adding your name, you are committing to:
Get informed about SBOE elections
Get involved in your community
VOTE for candidates that restore sanity to the SBOE
Sign up today to do your part to change the SBOE and promote a quality public education for millions of Texas kids.

Sincerely,
The Texas Freedom Network

P.S. For even more campaign updates, like TFN on Facebook and follow #SBOE2012 on Twitter.

It is the result of the election which will determine that....not the campaign.

I just copied and pasted the article because I couldn't link to it. The values statement was just a way of goading people into action. I posted the post just to inform people (albeit a bit early) of the upcoming election.

I don't have a lot of faith in Texas voters...at least not the majority.

Unfortunately neither do I.

You see, "faith" is not required. Texas voters have repeatedly demonstrated that they are fucking morons.

This is evidence and it stands in stark contrast to "faith."

Political climate be damned... the weather here is hell enough.
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
