But they take into account the countless numbers of infant baptisms in the Christian churches. What's the matter? You butthurt cause Christianity is rapidly losing it's status in the world?

Perhaps his faith depends on its popularity?

That would be a good thing for his flatmate Forsaken.

I think their greatest fears when it comes to their faith is science learning and studying the unknown. The more we know, the more facts we uncover. Facts that contradict religious belief. The other great fear of theirs is popularity. To have more and more people leave religion altogether means less members of their group to reassure each other that they're right about their beliefs. If you really want to believe in a lie, you're going to want as many people to believe it as possible.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Many people once thought the earth was flat, this certainly didn’t make it so. (Appeal to Popularity)

What these theists fail to realize is that:

When Moses first taught Torah no one else was Jewish
When Yeshua first taught gospel no one was Christian
When Muhammad taught Islam no one was Muslim

So their appeal to popularity to support their argument fails miserably at the supposed origins of their beliefs.

Yes but they do include religious people who will lose their faith in the future...

All balances out in the end.

I was watching a youtube video the other day and some christian nutjob in the comments section was claiming god was true because according to his (probably made up) figures, 87% of the world population was religious. A classic appeal to popularity.

One major flaw in his argument of course, is whatever religion he is, be it christian, muslim or other, it does NOT account for 87% of the population - it might be 20% - and of course everybody else has to be wrong. Bang goes the stupid persons appeal to popularity.

Eat shit, trillions of flies can't be wrong?

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

It also doesn't take into account that most of them are more intelligent than their parents, that they're freethinking rationalists, who value the demonstrable truth and scientific discovery above dogma, cults and superstition.

It also doesn't take into account all the Christians and Muslims who will turn into atheists at some point.

Completely irrelevant argument.

And also does not take into account the "forced into religion" flocks (especially the ones in strict Muslim countries). Take that out of the equation and I am quite confident the number of "real" Muslim adherents would barely number a few million.

I didn't see the original post as making any sort of argument. I took it more as "hey, good news! The spell may be wearing off."

They don't get put into any category. They are put into the category of their parents. On paper I am technically a christian my parents asked an old man to poor magic water on my head and the lot.
Its okay tho I filled my bath with unholy water Big Grin
