Na, like a fundamentalist idiot you miss the point of the silence. It's because your idea is truly as stupid as your god is.

Oh I know exactly where it comes from. I know more about Locke, Voltaire and Jefferson than most atheists do, let alone the Christians who get so little credit for the Enlightenment they brought about. This soon becomes apparent.

I guess I was hoping somebody would come up with something besides 2 Catholic "scientists" to prove I was wrong. Perhaps you have a historical fact to submit to show where I am mistaken? Nevermind, if you knew one, you would doubtless have submitted it

ROFLOL

Should I decide you have said same to non-Christians here, I might take you seriously. Fair enough?

Of course you would spend most of your forum time writing rebukes to atheists, no?

I personally have no problem with whatever the religious beliefs of the people of the enlightenment were. The point is they helped bring more knowledge/science into the world and for that I am most grateful.

For those who died for bringing what they did to the table I am most grateful as well whether they are Atheist, Agnostic, Buddhist, Christian, Deist, Jewish, or Muslim they still helped humanity out.

Even with the founding fathers of America, regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof, they still drafted up a constitution which, when it is held to, is a particularly lovely thing I enjoy.

I'm not quite sure what point the OP is trying to make.

I dunno. Maybe a recent statement that a person absolutely critical to democratic reforms "is generally regarded as a deist."

It's complete nonsense, and shows that many atheists believe what they want to believe while claiming to be intellectually honest and rational.

Thank you. At least 50 were Protestants. 1 may have been Catholic I recall. The question worth answering is whether Jesus should get far more credit for the Enlightenment, esp social enlightenment. His mission statement in Luke 4 works for the Enlightenment as well, and if you ask the leaders who most inspired them, 95% would say it was Jesus or at least his teachings (As in Jefferson's case).

You are accusing others of not being entirely rational while simulataneously damning 'many atheists' over a comment that one person made?

And as far as giving Jesus credit for the Enlightenment, I'm pretty sure he wasn't there...

It is quite possible that some enlightenment thinkers were influenced greatly by the philosophies of Jesus. That is not to say they took the entire philosophy such as damnation etc but they may have taken pieces of it.

However except for the idea of understanding who the enlightenment thinkers were and what influenced them I don't know what the point of this post is? Now if that was your point then that is cool. I am wondering though do you have some other point/purpose in bringing this up?

Jesus mentioned something about gravity did he? He had some insights as to the mechanisms of the cosmos and orbits of those chunks of rock floating around our sun? Perhaps he was a renowned mathematician?

What? No, none of these things? Ah, I see.....too bad.

I don't know why you're using a rofl pic ... you are very wrong. Atheists don't always agree with other atheists any more that all christians agree with each other. Actually it's a pretty regular occurrence around here to see an atheist making a smartass and/or snipey remark to a fellow atheist.

On a side note regarding the OP:

Why would atheists give a shit about your personal beef with deists??? [Image: facepalm.gif]
I mean, aren't you kinda barking up the wrong tree in order to promote your own bull shit agenda?
