Unbelievers do not make up 100% of the public thus the needs of the religious need to be met by public schools. it is unfair and wrong to force a secular education upon those who do not want it.

if the atheist doesn't like religion in school then they are free to build their own, create their own curriculum, reruit their own teachers and students.

The atheist is free to show the world that their system is the better one by NOT forcing their ways upon those who have rejected it but be educating their students in their own schools on their own dime.

But I doubt that would ever happen as atheists love the educational welfare they receive via the public school system.

keep in mind that the rules of equal opportunity, etc. would still apply to them

Enter the shit storm stage left! Thanks for posting Dee Tee, I needed a good laugh today. ROFLOL

Um... what? And it's unfair to force delusional religious ideas onto intelligent people who do not want it.

I can't even reply to this because it is so stupid. We already have our own schools and curriculum. Religion is trying to force itself into it. If THEY don't like the current system, then THEY need to go somewhere else.

I couldn't even reply to it the first time I read it. I was laughing too hard. Apparently this person thinks that his or her religion is the only version of the only religion around. He or would shit a brick if the wrong religious thing were taught in school. There is a reason why church and state are separate.

We've been sparring partners for years now on various boards. Mainly now we chat on his board....which is primarily him and me...about various subjects. I know him as Arch....which is short for "archaeologist" a subject he knows nothing about. I consider him a crazed fundie maybe even a shade or two worse than G-C in his slavish devotion to a silly old book.

HOWEVER..... we frequently chat about subjects other than religion and while we do not always agree, on culture and politics and education we can frequently reach an understanding on anything other than fairy tales. I don't know if he will join in some of the political or cultural discussions here but he is less of a total asshole on those subjects than he has shown you so far on religious issues.

I have known minimalist for about 8 years now. When we do not talk religion he is a nice guy.

You and the others may laugh at what I said BUT I went to school during the Bible reading and prayer era and guess what--we had far fewer problems in the classroom, in the school yard, with teachers, and other students and a lot less stupidity than what we see going on today.

secularism has not worked. time to get back to christianity in schools. I do realize that other religions exist but they are not true and lead people to sin and destruction thus they can be outlawed from the public school system.

I will disagree with this statement. he knows I know that field.

So that ONE school had few problems? You can't apply it to every school. The fact that you did bible readings and prayers show that there WAS a lot of stupidity.

It hasn't worked because religion continues to force itself into everything.
If people want to learn about a fictional God, they can go to church. Religion does not belong in education.

I think Japan would disagree with you.
