Excuse me for the inconvenience cato, but I have to admit : the book has its wonders. I think that the people who try to form up links between its verses & scientific phenomenas are not that astray; they give a fun,exciting & sometimes a correct & realistic material to read.

Yes, the Quran is all about the semantics of the verses -in a linguistic fashion-, but even if I disliked this way of coming up with calculations & stuff, I can't judge.  Angel

I'll give you a nice thing : God's holly names are 99.
Open your palms : you'll find on your right hand the number (18) & on the left hand the number (81) -written in Indian numbers which Arabs embraced-.

18 = ١٨
81 = ٨١

They equal to 99.

Though, I would say "weird". But I won't use this as an evidence on anything ; I won't judge those who believe it either.  Rolleyes

But, the Quran is not meant to be read like that.

Oh... most of them.

*yawn*

Yes its true that the word "Qamar" Arabic word for moon is mentioned 27 times throughout the entire Qur'an and the word "Qamar jadid" Arabic for new moon is mentioned only once making a total of 28 times. It's also interesting that the moon that orbits our planet has exactly 28 phases. Another miraculous listing of the Qur'an in chapter 54 Al-Qamar "The Moon" the word moon is only used once in this chapter in verse 1. If you are to count the remaining verses in the Qur'an from this point until the end there are 1390 verses. The number 1390 in the Muslim Hijra calendar is exactly equal to 1969 in our Gregorian calendar. Of course we all know in 1969 MAN FIRST SET FOOT ON THE MOON. So who besides Allah(God Almighty)could have known this information and placed it in a subliminal message, especially back in the 7th century? This, along with so many more miracles, some of which have been mentioned already by other members of this website, prove that the Holy Qur'an is the word of Allah, God Almighty alone.

Actually there are 6236 verses in the Qur'an in 114 chapters. If u add the chapter number plus the number of verses in the chapter (i.e. CH.1 has 7 verses so 1+7=8 and CH.3 has 200 verses so 3+200=203. 8 is even and 203 is odd). If u do this for all 114 chapters u get exactly 57 even and 57 odd numbers. Add all even numbers u get 6236 which as said before is the total amount of verses. If u add all odd numbers u get 6555 which is the sum of 1+2+3......114 which is the total amount of chapters. But all miracles of the Qur'an show and prove that it could come from only God Almighty Allah. There are linguistic, mathematical, scientific, astronomical, and even future telling events that no one except Allah especially in the 7th century, when technology didn't yet exist, knew about. But we are able to verify and confirm these miraculous facts with what we have today

Incredulity at how information could have otherwise been received is not evidence that it came from God.

I don't find anything the Quran has to say remotely impressive, it's all retrofitting modern science onto primitive nonsense. But even if they did know something amazing, that doesn't prove where it came from. That is a claim that needs evidence as well. And it doesn't meant the rest of the book is correct either. A magician doesn't get to say he teleported a card because no one can explain how it got from one hand to the other.

I can write a hundred true statements, and then another statement after that that may or may not be true. Would you believe the last one before finding out what it is?

I was going to ignore this topic because of the dates of the original posts, however the miracle claims caught my eye. Don't you think that Allah would come up with something more obvious than resorting to calculating dates and switching between calender systems? Why are we using human timekeeping methods anyway?

People who lived before the moon landings were announced could not appreciate the miracle either. Not only that, the Quran doesn't mention moon landings or even space travel. How are people supposed to know how to do Salat in space? There's no sun on the side of the moon facing the Earth so it's impossible as Muhammad didn't provide instructions. People have been forced to make assumptions based on their desires and retrofit the Quran.

Fact is, anyone who doesn't use the Georgian Calender can't appreciate the miracle. And this thing about the moon is silly. Do what if the words for the moon are used 28 times? Anyone who doesn't live on the Earth can't appreciate this miracle. The universe is huge and the Quran is clearly designed with the seventh century human in mind.

You could find significance in any reasonably long random collection of nonsense if you were prepared to pick and choose to produce the answer you want it to give.

When one of these books grants very specifically the wisdom before science discovers it, I'll be impressed. Not vague horoscope style wibblings that are claimed to be wisdom after the fact.
