Because being alive matters to me. If I'm dead, I cannot be alive.

No, the difference matters as much as 30 years.

No, nothing matters once you are dead. Being alive matters very much.

The only things I'm indifferent to are things that'd take place after my death. For the period of my life I care very much about everything in it.

Oh I make a lot of contributions - to myself, everyday. Now get off your soapbox and give me a rational argument as to why I should contribute to others.

Quote:So what you're telling me is, the Turks can come in and invade a region that isn't their own, commit genocide, and it's all just a "clash of ideals"? I guess you could say that if you define Armenia's ideals as surviving free of Turkish occupation, then yeah.
I knew that this was destined to be, Hovik.
Me and you would clash. Let us settle this then.
Turks have come into your region, which was back then a theme of the Byzantines, in 1071, with the battle of Manzikert.
Back then, you have greeted us with flowers.
What really changed?

Why didn't you resist this occupation back then?
And well, throughout the years and years of Turkish rule in Anatolia, Armenians were known as "millet-i sadıka" the loyal people. Some resistance fighters you were.

And then you just come, during the last days of the empire, and try to pull off the same shit as the Greeks with the help of the Slav, and expect mercy?
We've shown you mercy by only exiling you.

Quote:Also, that's not "Eastern Anatolia"; they're the Armenian Highlands. Get your geography correct.
I do not really ponder on names, friend. All are equally the lands of Turan for me.
Quote:And by the way, here's a slap of reality: you seem to be suffering under the delusion that the world trembles at the might of Turkey. As far as most Americans are concerned, Turkey is a country right next to gravy. Mmm, gravy.
Better yet, they won't suspect us then.

Quote:Because being alive matters to me. If I'm dead, I cannot be alive.
Why?
If you're going to be dead anyways, what really will change for you?
Quote:No, the difference matters as much as 30 years.
30 years of what?

Quote:No, nothing matters once you are dead. Being alive matters very much.
But that will change once you're dead, won't it?
Being alive, staying alive...
Quote:The only things I'm indifferent to are things that'd take place after my death. For the period of my life I care very much about everything in it.
Why? If you're going to die, why care?
Quote:Oh I make a lot of contributions - to myself, everyday. Now get off your soapbox and give me a rational argument as to why I should contribute to others.
Then you contribute to a dead end. Your contributions are without return.
If you contribute to "others" by others, I mean to the public, next generations, your country and nation, your contributions can be cashed in by both you during your lifetime, and others during their lifetimes, along with even future generations.
Is that not a more higher purpose of living?

Ah I see the turgid old "I'm for nationalism until you apply it to anyone but turks" bullshit again.

Well, I said it before, and I will say it once more. Ideals clash.
This is their nature. If our nationalism clashes with another, it's just a matter of time until a victor emerges. Turkish nationalism emerged as the winner of WWI. We have created ourselves a country. The last, free Turkish country at the end of the first world war.
With the death of communism years later, other Turks have reached freedom. Now it's time for us to unite.

But it is all too often your nationalism affects other nationalities.

Well, you cannot have two kings that sit on the same throne. Just as Chingiss ordered his blood brother be killed, just as Mehmet the Conqueror ordered his brothers strangled, we must eliminate any threats on the way to our national goal. For now, the greatest threats are Russia, China and the US.

Are you living in the same universe? Turks were on the losing side in WWI.

ROFLOLROFLOL

This has to be the funniest post I've seen in a while. Turkey challenging the biggest superpowers in the world? Yeah, you go ahead and do that. Then you'd literally be - roast turkey.

The Ottoman empire lost, but Turkish nationalism emerged as the winner. This is why we were able to put out a resistance to bring about the creation of Turkey, a country that was built on the Turkish national identity, not on the collectivist Ottoman identity. Obviously you know not much about our history, but I don't know why it should concern you anyways.

Then we'll be roast. But at least we have died on the road to our national freedom, friend. Did Kurshad and his forty companions not storm the Chinese palace in an effort to kill the Chinese emperor? They were slain, but they have made an effort, did they not?
Besides, Turkey will not be alone in this regard. Other Turkish nations will join this new alliance, and form a single country called Turan.
Politics will decide the winner of this one.

Chingiss Khan was not a turk, I don't see why you get so worked up about him.

I'd like to see you try and eliminate Russia, China and the USA, especially when the latter has nuclear weapons on turkish soil.

Well, I'm still going to forgive your ignorance. Chingiss' mother was of the Kongirat tribe. A tribe that shares the same lineage as the Ashina tribe, with the same legends and customs.
Chingiss also ruled over a large number of Turkic speaking tribes, although I really do not make a distinction between the "mongol" and the "turk" of that time, as both were rather much closer during those days than they are now.
Chingiss is still to us Turks around the world a great ruler, and a great holder of the Qut.
Obviously, we cannot eliminate the countries. But I guess you misunderstand me. We need to eliminate their status as threats. After that, whatever happens with them is not our concern. The red menace above us has crumbled. It's only a matter before the menace from the other side of the atlantic will suffer a similar fate. We can speed up this process by playing our political games a bit better, all the while working towards the goal of Turkic unity.

Of course, first of all, we need to secure our independence in terms of economy and technology.
