RE: Understanding the bible
"Try this go back and read what I stated and this time act like an adult, that is if you are, and see if you can see what I stated, if not ask a third grader."

When you start reasoning better than a kindergardener, we can proceed. Until then, so long as you maintain that you personally know what your imaginary sky wizard felt and thought based on a set of stories made up by men to control people, I think I shall stand fast and wait for you to catch up.

Of course you won't, because you're married to your idiotic fantasy. The fact that you think anyone should take you seriously here is simply testimony to your state of delusion.

That's why so many have trouble with the scriptures, they either read and get only a surface meaning from them,or the bring their own preconceived ideas into the reading of scripture and make those ideas fit the scriptures. Properly read one will allow the Holy Spirit to open up the word of God's truth and apply it to one's life. To many would rather make the scriptures fit their ideas and lifestyle.

I agree! Excellent insight.

RE: Understanding the bible
Now all that either of you have to do is provide some evidence that your lame-ass holy spirit exists and you'll be on to something.

Somehow...I doubt that will be forthcoming.

RE: Understanding the bible
I would explain some wonderful things about the holy spirit, but you would need a genuine interest in the subject to actually believe it, we know you all just like playing around, this old hat for you pros.

Of course because your kind shows up all the time singing the same stupid song.

"You have to believe in order to believe!" Sorry. That is a load of shit designed to con people into turning over their money to the parasites in the churches.

Time to grow up, Salty. You have been conned.

Stimbo Wrote:I have no belief in what we were supposed to be other than to follow our genetic heritage and be humans. I'm sorry, your question confuses me.

You said that we threw a wrench in the plan because, we were being what we were created to be.

Quote:Also how is it you think a mere mortal can throw a wrench in God's plan?

Stimbo Wrote:Eve ate fruit she was explicitly told not to, scuppering God's idea of Eden thus causing 'him' to expel his creations and close the garden.

The entire population of the Earth devolved into 'sin' to the extent that God regretted ever creating them in the first place, causing 'him' to commit genocide on a global scale with the special exception of the world's greatest menagerie and a control group of chosen élite. Immediately after the atrocity, God's representative of the best of the human race got completely out of his head on homebrew and may or may not have indulged in a particularly juicy bit of Ham (but that's another story).

God knew this would happen before creation, he already knew all that would be the scriptures, His plan was worked out to the very last detail. Then creation. God has never nor will He ever be surprised.

Stimbo Wrote:In fact let's forget the book altogether for the moment. Every prayer, every curse, every petition for divine intervention is an attempt to rewire God's plan in favour of the petitioner or against his enemies.

That's why we are to pray with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so our prayers are in God's will. I stated this earlier in this discussion, that not all of God's will is absolute. Example, God could allow someone to get sick, (this would be in His will), to test someone else, (this also in God's will), the one being tested might pray for the healing of the first, God could heal the sick person, thus allowing His will to be changed as long as it does not effect His absolute will.
