So what if Hell was real...

RE: So what if Hell was real...
Being familiar with pain, the eternally physical torture of our souls (I know, I know, who knows how THAT works) would make me a Christian or a Muslim in a heartbeat if I really believed their hells in their most popular conceptions really existed. It's easy to talk about how defiant you'd be, but have someone hold your hand in a flame unitl you praise Allah or Yahweh and see how long it takes. The Muslims seem to have the worst hell, they are quite explicit about how your suffering remains fresh forever.

If hell were real I still maintain that it's the christians who are fucked. The eternal torture, burning and gnashing of teeth always struck me as behavior control mechanisms similar to:

If you pick your nose a sharp toothed snail will bite your finger off.
If you cross your eyes or make funny faces they will be stuck like that forever.
If you swim immediately after eating you'll die of a cramp.
If you have premarital sex as a teenager your fun bits will immediately fall off/out.

If there's any interest I'll be glad to share an anecdote from when I was 8 that got me thinking this way. Besides, we only hear from the god botherers how bad hell is. I would like to see the devil's travel brochure. I'll leave you with some AC/DC -

Don't mind her playin' demon
Long as it's with me
If this is hell
Then you could say
It's heavenly
Hell ain't a bad place to be

Late at night
Turns down the light
Closes up on me
Opens my heart
Tears me apart
Brings out the devil in me

Torture always works, eventually, but it's an empty concession. Once a person is broken they will say anything, they will even make two contradictory statements back to back if they think that it might have the chance of saving them further pain. On the other hand, those who ardently believe that nothing they say or do will achieve this result (those who have been tortured after making contradictory statements, for example) have a tendency to stonewall the torturor. God and Hell fall into the second camp.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Hell would be an orchestra of kindergarteners playing plastic recorders.

Hell is a place where you are forced to listen to a creationist lecture for eternity.
This is stupid

I fail to see why a burning rubbish tip and a graveyard is punishment?
