This is the program that uses the Loch Ness Monster to refute evolution (discussed elsewhere on AF).

Do you know where the Accelerated christian Education program was discussed on AF? I'd like to read it.

Quote:Ignorant electorate. I am in favor of a very basic test administered to gain a license to vote. I don't think it is too much to ask knowing that most states have licensing requirements for cutting hair and professionally providing opinion regarding which color pillow will match the drapes.

I was reading about that a few days ago, but wall street journal says it's only 3 of your states (I thought it was 2) http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424...15376.html (the article is quite funny, lives are at stake! =P). AH i see whats going on, it's more states (reason magazine (libertarian) says 22, and they would probably go for the highest number possible), but there are differences between where they can and can't work (homes vs offices) and what they can call themselves when 'unlicensed'.

The hair dressing one is even stupider when you read about people needing to take a 2 year course when they want to do african braiding, and the 2 year courses don't even mention the topic.

eww, and that idea won't be subject to abuse now will it?

Thanks for posting that. Now I remember it. I remembered it as the Loch Ness Monster thread (my name for it).

Though it's bad that they're teaching this to children and saying it's fact at least public money wasn't directly going to fund this crap. Now it will.

One of the state legislators, Rep. Valarie Hodges (R-Watson), just made a shocking discovery; Christianity isn’t the only religion!

What a dumb ignorant brainwashed bitch. First the state should pay nothing to any religion, and this lady just proves just cause you are in a position of authority you can still be a huge dumbass. The only way to fight that is to not concede to their authority. Also does it really matter is she is a R, political parties are all bunk, they are there to divide you. I can see this site is very anti R. Your hatred is funneled to individual people when the problem is the system as a whole.

Sorry, I didn't think of this when I copied and pasted the quote from the article. I sort of fall in the middle politically so I don't often see labeling like this as a hit for the team so to speak. It is more a neutral thing.

Louisiana (most notably Southern Louisiana) has a relatively speaking significant Muslim population. It isn't odd to see women in their suffocating tarps...I mean traditional dress. In other words there is a large enough population to support Muslim schools. Another thing fueling the desire for Muslim schools in that region is the fact that the public schools suck. Most parents who value not having their children beat up or offered drugs on a daily basis have their kids in private school. Most of these private schools are some flavor of religious school. Though some of these religious schools aren't very religious they're still too Christian for a Muslim or anyone from any other religion. Essentially if you want your kid to go to a decent school it's a religious school or a home school (from what I remember secular private schools do exist but they still have a hint of some form of Christianity).

The fact is that the majority in state and federal legislatures don't even read the bills they're voting on, so there's plenty of blame for all concerned. All the real negotiations happen in committee where the question is not, "Is it a good law?" but rather, "What will you do for me if I support your bill?"
