Hmm.. I had a hard time decipher that meaning with my English as a third language goggles. It's alright to not be a master of a foreign language, but when one's knowledge hampers the message one wants to get through, then I say there is a problem. Especially if one wants to debate.
But Frods, since you're the only (known) theists here, why not give his/hers question a go and get the debate spinning? Wink
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I just came to this forum, I'm student, I'm just 17 and I want to have some talk over scientific view of how god is involved in our daily life or universe.

I'm atheist. I wish this debate goes in peace etc.

Keep it simple and I give religions a start.

All kidding aside, is English a second language to you? I want to know so I can have an awareness so I can deal with you better. Where are you originally from?

And "I wish this debate goes in peace? I don't understand. No one here who is sane wants violence. You might get some harsh banter if someone disagrees with you, but you'll still go to bed at night in one piece.

You say you are an atheist? But yet you want to have some "talk" over "scientific view of how god is involved in our daily life or universe".

My answer to that is simple "god/s/God/super natural" are as involved in our lives to the extent humans have always made up them up in our evolutionary history. But they are not real and DO NOT have any affect on us other than our history of believing false things as a species.

I'm Chinese.

If they don't affect on us then why do you believe in it and take your time to pray for it ? umm ?

There is a flaw there.

No there is no flaw.

Frods....I am not a theist.

I don't understand "stupid" as well as you guys!

No we'arent stupid. You belive some thing that is there and waste your time on it. So if you pray to make a good business and i go study every time while you pray and learn economics for example, i will be more successful.

I have to admit that I don't understand what you're getting at and why you want a debate about the topic. It's not a question about gods existing or not, as long as there are followers, they and others around them will be affected by their religious actions. There's can be no debate of something so obvious.

There is, gods and science don't really go hand in hand. You can state that psychology might have something to do with the matter, why people so readily believe in deities and are prepared to alter their lives in order to please fantasy creatures, but that is a whole another discussion.

Minimalist was calling theists stupid. By saying "we aren't stupid" you're claiming to be a theist yourself. So, which camp do you really belong to? Big Grin
But I do agree, studying is more constructive than praying.

Help religion how? What, you thought that just because we're both atheist that I would immediately take your side no matter what you wrote? Wake up and smell the pancakes. If you want a debate, state your points CLEARLY, think through what you want to say and don't cry if no one else sees eye to eye with you. And you know, you might have terrific points, but at the moment they are lost in translation, I'm afraid..
