RE: Parents of gay children
It would certainly upset me a little if society was still so bigoted about gays by the time I have children. I'd feel bad for the kid. But as far as the child being gay is concerned, I wouldn't mind at all and I would certainly hope they'd find their way and become comfortable with who they are.

While I'm talking about gays and society though, I have a tangent for everybody (don't all cheer at once).

The newly elected English Democrat mayor of Doncaster has spoken about his feelings towards gays. Just from his party name you can tell it won't be good. His statement was roughly "yes, I am cutting all funding to the gay pride celebrations in Doncaster. It's not homophobia- I just don't think any sexuality should be celebrated with funding from the tax payers, gay or straight."

How cute, he's all about equality. No sexuality should make its voice heard, not even straight people.

Now lets dig a little deeper with a sort of analogy.
Lets put the date back to say... 1930, USA.
"It's not racist, I just don't think any colour of skin should be celebrated with funding from the tax payers, black or white". Well, it's certainly easy to say that when white people are living their cushty, police protected lives around the black people who have their rights suppressed or dissolved entirely. In the same sense, it's all too easy to suppress sexuality demonstations when your particular sexuality is enjoying the human rights it deserves, while the group in question are still being mistreated by the laws of the land.

Give me a break Peter Davies, you don't care for equality. You know full well why straight people don't feel the need to march, demonstrate or celebrate. They have their rights already.

That's a good point and I would agree. I know from personally experience the problems I have faced being Bi. I wouldn't want any child to go through that sort of discrimination.

This is one reasons I am very passionate about gay rights. It's not just about equal rights, but also to show children it's okay to prevent the very sad cases of suicide and depression associated with homosexual teens. There were recent news cases about children committing suicide simply because they were mocked for being gay and we don't even know if they were.

RE: Parents of gay children
About gay rights, gay parenting...: I think sadly the first generations have to be "sacrificed" and ostracized like the first generations of divorced parents kids.
Nowadays no one considers having divorced parents as something shameful and weird. I think gay and lesbian people will have to wait and fight to get the same rights as straight people until : every one has a gay neighbor, with or without kids, a gay teacher, a gay mayor (done in Paris!)... and doesn't even give it a second thought!

I'm going to be honest Darwinian, I was almost suprised by the results over there.

Okay I'll come clean, I wasn't even close to suprised. There, I admitted it.
