Parents of gay children

RE: Parents of gay children
Could I ask how you would feel if your child was "straight" instead?

I don't see a difference between sexual orientation. It's a bit like asking me "How would you feel if your child was a boy" and then saying "How would you feel if your child was a girl". I have no preference because I don't think either gender (or sexual orientation) should be favoured over the other.

I concur entirely.

That's who they are. I wouldn't care about my hypothetical child's gender and I have no idea why I should about their sexuality either! (Well, obviously it seems to me, I shouldn't! I can see no moral justification for such biased prejudice as for my views to be otherwise on this matter!).

It is not that I would have to 'tolerate' a gay child - because I don't see why there's anything to have to tolerate! Why would (or should(?)) straight be 'better'(?). Both are just who the hypothetical child is!
To me, it makes no difference at all - I'd obviously love them the same; and from my own personal perspective, in a moral sense - that's obvious. It really should go without saying. Shame it doesn't...hopefully by 3009 it will...!(?)

Hey,

My point exactly, that one type of sexual orientation should not be valued over another. I only try to keep well balanced, and so can not gleefully (gayly) support homosexuality as if it were cool. If we cannot hold hetero values to be any better (regardless of the large number of people who feel and act hetero) then we certainly can't treat gayness as a privileged lifestyle choice.

I should just stop while I am behind, because I doubt I can question anything about homosexuality without being labeled phobic. If I was phobic of spiders would that represent a failure on my part to act right, or just an unfortunate turn that I can not control? So, even though I maintain the feeling I get form homosexuality is not a phobia, why is it my fault? Why is it a failure of mine to 'tolerate' homosexuals, but you guys can choose not to 'tolerate' a theist because you disagree?

I am not a bigot, for what it's worth. I still fight for the side of universal love. I'm just kind of a dick about it.

Thanks.

Well, I'm bi (possible a lesbian...I'm sick of trying to figure it out...xD), so if I ever have kids in the (distant) future, then I'd be like, "hey cool! Big Grin" and just chill.
