I was always more into Baldr. I had a thing for the "shy, sensitive types" at that age.

(That changed rather abruptly when, at the end of year bash for my 7th grade Norse religion class, the shy, sensitive Scandinavian god I had my eye on gave me a large dose of cold shoulder.)

Baldr was actually Jesus in disguise, like Aslan in Narnia, that kind of thing. Note how he comes back from the dead to rule over the new Earth after the death of the old gods.

Oooorrr....Jesus is a copy of the Dying God concept? He's not the first to be hung on a 'tree' and come back from the dead.

They were all priming people for the real thing. Tolkien managed to convert C.S Lewis to Christianity with that one.
